Give every page a clear purpose
A service page, a guide and a campaign landing page answer different needs. Decide what each page should help a visitor understand or do before choosing its layout. This makes headings, supporting copy and calls to action easier to organise. It also helps avoid several pages repeating the same information with slightly different titles.
Build navigation around useful relationships
Main navigation should help people understand the site quickly. Supporting links can connect related services, examples and detailed guides. Use meaningful labels that describe the destination rather than asking visitors to guess. Important information should not depend on an interaction that only works with a mouse.
Plan space for real content
Designs often look clean with a short placeholder sentence but become awkward when real explanations are added. Work with representative copy early. A strong content layout can include short summaries, expandable details and clear subheadings without hiding the information a visitor needs to make a decision.
Treat performance as a shared responsibility
Image size, animation, video and scripts are design decisions as well as technical ones. Agree which visual effects contribute to the experience and how they will be delivered. Provide appropriately sized images and respect reduced-motion preferences. Review performance after implementation because a mockup cannot reveal loading behaviour.
Protect the useful parts of the existing site
Before a rebuild changes URLs or removes content, review what already exists. Map important pages, check redirects and confirm that metadata and internal links follow the new structure. Keep a launch checklist that someone can verify, rather than treating migration as the final upload step.
Measure the change carefully
Agree a baseline and decide what to review after launch. Search visibility, visitor behaviour and completed enquiries can offer different perspectives. Avoid attributing every change to the redesign alone; seasonality, campaigns and market conditions also matter. Use the evidence to decide what to improve next.
